The latest TVGUIDE has a feature on R2-D2 and Episode 2, with some fact/fiction/opinion editorials.  On one of them, Jango Fett graces the front page of the editorial from the trailer and appears in a question, stuff we already know, but a nice feature no less:
"OPINION: Lucas more than makes up for this lapse in judgment by adding bounty hunters Boba and Jango Fett to the mix.  It’s the return of Boba Fett, the bounty hunter in the battle-scarred green helmet who appeared in the first trilogy (Fett encased Han Solo in a slab of carbonite in “The Empire Strikes Back”). Boba Fett has a prominent role in the new movie as the mop-headed, preteen companion to a fierce bounty hunter named Jango Fett (Temuera Morrison)."

StarWars.com has finally added a lot of the characters from Episode 2 into their ever-growing database.  Jango Fett's area was finally added with some new images!  This is what the official site has to say about    Jango Fett (You can click on the images to the right to enlarge the images):
"The name Fett carries with it a cold air of dread and competence. To those with the credits with to hire him, it is synonymous with success. To those with reasons to fear, Fett means capture or death. The name and reputation are just two of the many things Boba inherited from his father, Jango. In the final years of the Republic, Jango Fett was regarded as the best bounty hunter in the galaxy.
A proficient marksman and unarmed combatant, Fett was covered in a sleek armored suit that concealed his scarred visage and strangely-tattooed forearms. His combat gear featured an arsenal of weaponry, including retractable wrist blades, a snare, dual blaster pistols and other more exotic tools of the trade.
In combat, Jango used his harnessed jetpack to gain the advantage of speed and height over his enemies. The backpack also carried a nasty surprise -- an explosive rocket could be launched from it. For interstellar travel, Jango and his son Boba traveled aboard their well-worn starship, the Slave I."

This text verifies that Jango Fett is indeed Boba Fett's father.  It's also interesting to see it says "Strangely-Tattooed forearms.  It also confirms the existence of Wrist blades and dual blasters.  You can visit the Jango Fett Database entry here.
From Boba Fett to Jango Fett - The Costumes of Boba Fett - Click to Enlarge   The image to the left (click on it to enlarge it in a new window) was also found in the Jango Fett database area, but needs some special attention.  This image is a drawing of (to the right) Boba Fett and (both of the drawings to the right) Jango Fett preliminary designs.  You can see the progress and modifications from the original suit.
Slave 1 - From the new Slave 1 Episode 2 StarWars.com Database Entry - Click to Enlarge StarWars.com also updated the Slave 1 database section with a image of Slave 1 from the trailers put in the 'curve' shape in the top corner.  They also added this little blurb to the bio:
"The battle-worn vessel was originally owned and piloted by Jango Fett, who passed on his impressive skills to his son, Boba."

What's a Jedi Starfighter with Obi-Wan got to do with Boba Fett or Jango Fett?  Well, Jango Fett chased this Star Fighter through and asteroid field trying to blow it into micro-dust.  StarWars.com also put up these two new images of the Star Fighter.  You can enlarge these by clicking on the image.  The top image shows Obi-Wan in his fighter searching for Jango Fett in the Asteroid field.  Bellow that image, the bottom image shows the aftermath of a run in with Jango Fett, many scorched blaster burns on Obi-Wan's fighter.

Jango Fett from the high resolution Star Wars Episode 2 Teaser Trailer "Breathing" now online!  Last night StarWars.com released the new Star Wars Episode 2 Attack of the Clones "breathing" teaser trailer online!  We where really excited when we went to the download page to see a very high resolution image of Jango Fett from the teaser!  You can enlarge the image by clicking on the thumbnail to the left.  To download the new Teaser Trailer, click HERE.  Discuss this in the Boba Fett Multimedia Page forum!
Jango Fett from the Episode 2 Teaser Bootleg  Already a bootleg of the new Star Wars Teaser has hit the net.  But tomorrow morning we should see the new Teaser on the official site.
Here's a rundown of what was in the trailer that involves Jango Fett:
       (1) We see a shot of Jango Fett using his jetpack to jet up in the air.  It's raining in the shot, so it's probably during the Obi-Wan battle on the Landing Platform near Slave 1.
       (2) We see an asteroid field, Slave 1 comes streaking into view firing from the hidden weapons in mid-ship.
       (3) Thousands of clones (they wear armor similar to Jango's and are probably Jango clones)

:: New Jango Fett and Boba Fett Images :: :: New Jango Fett and Boba Fett Images ::   Theforce.net Jedi Council forum reported on a new image found on the cover of a unknown magazine that appear to have a brand new shot of Jango Fett and Boba Fett.  Decide for yourself if they are true or not, we can't even verify them!  You can enlarge both image to the left by clicking on them. Are they real or fake, post your thoughts about these in the Boba Fett Multimedia Page forum!

Rebelscum.net posted very blurry and low res images of the new Attack of the Clones Lego Sets.  These images where taken on a $20 camera, so they aren't that great but good enough.  You can from the pictures 3 sets that tie in with Jango Fett, one being the Jango Fett figure by itself, then Slave 1 with Jango Fett (and maybe Boba Fett?).  Also there is Jedi Starfighter with Bounty Hunter Pursuit, which we believe involves Jango Fett.
TheForce.net reports that the new Attack of the Clones Trailer will be on television and for download on StarWars.com this Monday.  Keep your eyes peeled.

Are you ready for the Episode 2 trailer tomorrow?  That's right, attached to Disney's Monsters INC. we'll see the first teaser trailer with Boba Fett and the whole gang from Episode 2.  Here's a summary from TheForce.net:
"I wanted to write in to let you know I’m a projectionist at an 18 plex. We are running two promos Saturday morning of Monsters, Inc. Me, a fellow projectionist, two managers and a few employees previewed JUST the new Star Wars trailer.  I for one liked it.
Starts off with the Lucas Logo.. then black screen ….. then you hear Vader breathing.. then a cool shot of Amidala.. then black with Vader's breathing… that’s how the trailer goes… black screen with Vader breathing, the really cool shots!  There are shots of young Boba Fett at a control console, AWESOME shot of the Slave 1, Anakin hugging Amidala on the Skywalker homestead, a CG Yoda, a shot of Obi Wan suspended in some beam, second to last scene was a HUGE ship with thousands of troopers walking up the HUGE ramp… and then the last scene the silence was broken… Count Dooku and Anakin in a saber fight and the sound of that fight! All in all, it was a good TEASER!! Done very well!"
Lots of news to get to today, so let's get to it!

of the updates where released on StarWars.com about the new Star Wars Insider Bounty Hunter Special, links to a Daniel Logan and a Temuera Morrison bio page on StarWars.com where added in.  Upon clicking on these links, we find that to the direct right of their headshots is 100% confirmation that Temuera Morrison is Jango Fett, and Daniel Logan is young Boba Fett in Episode 2: Attack of the Clones.  To the left there are thumbnails of Temuera Morrison on top, and Daniel Logan on bottom.  Upon clicking on them, a new window will open showing the new confirmation images.  Discuss this in the Boba Fett Multimedia Page forum!

Just arriving in our e-mail inboxes was the latest Homing Beacon.  Upon opening the e-mail and giving it a quick look-over, we saw what you are seeing to the left of this text.  Jango Fett in all his glory, in-air with Jetpack on.  Something we never got to see Boba Fett do (unless you call his flight into the Sarlacc using a jetpack).  This is the biggest picture to be released to date in our opinion, this has immediately upped our excitement for this movie, we can't wait for the trailer.  This image is of course from the large battle between Obi-Wan and Jango Fett on a landing platform near Slave 1.  It's hard to see, but it is raining in the background.
If you have not yet subscribed to the Star Wars Homing Beacon, then you need to put down that Hydro-spanner and subscribe!  Images like these will come first to the subscribers!  You can subscribe to the newsletter here.

New Jango Fett Image appears of dvd.starwars.com, exclusive weblink for Episode 1 DVD owners  Well, it turns out we are going to see some special Episode 2 Jango Fett multimedia on the new Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace DVD, it appears that when you access the web link on a DVD-ROM on a computer, it takes you to a special website (dvd.starwars.com) where you will find special features. There is a mini-movie on the site that shows a few new stills from Attack of the Clones.  One of them is Jango Fett crouching in the sand, in the battle against Mace Windu.  As you can see, the only way we could even show you a tiny tiny preview is if we cropped the image and blurred it out.  That should get you excited enough to buy the DVD and find a DVD-ROM.  Trust us, it was enough for us!  We have many more updates to add to here which appear as we where changing the servers, so bear with us as, in the next few days, we get you back up to speed.  Discuss this new image in the Boba Fett Multimedia Page forum!

Also, Amazon.com has now put the new JANGO FETT comic slated to come out in December up for preorders!  Unfortunatly, it's the same price as most comic stores will be ($5.95 US), so it may just be better to wait and get it in the stores in order to avoid shipping charges.  But for you all who don't mind you can pre-order the comic here.

Old-Master from our Boba Fett forums posted a very interesting pointer that most of us may have missed:
"Hello, fellow hunters!
I was reading on the official site about the costumes for AOTC, and includes a bit about the armor for Jango Fett. The SW site uses the name "Mandalorian" in conjunction with Daddy Fett! For years and on other boards, they (fans) denied the name Mandalorian for Boba Fett and his armor! Now, we have the official site confirm the word! That is pretty Kewl! old-master has spoken........."

So, it's confirmed for the first time, Mandalorian armor is the real deal!  Visit the Boba Fett Multimedia Page forum!

StarWars.com has posted a new featurette on costumes in episode 2 that feature Jango Fett's costume and an image! The article (bellow) talks a bit about Jango Fett, and is the first time the official site has used the name. To the left is the image that was with the update on the official site.  It is a shot of Jango Fett's Knee-Pads.  You can clearly see the mini-rocket launchers on them.  Boba Fett had the exact same thing, except his was orange colored.  You can click on the image to enlarge it.
"Working as a part of Costume Designer Trisha Biggar's department, Coveney has added end-user considerations to his skills as a craftsman. "Quite often in the props side you don't see the actors, so you don't worry about them, you just make a gorgeous-looking object," says Coveney. "But when you put your work on an actor, it can sometimes be too heavy, too cumbersome or too fragile. With characters like Jango Fett or when I did Russell Crowe's armor on Gladiator, we had to make it something the actor is comfortable with. It has to be as light as you can get it, but also has to be resilient for the fights and last all day."  The Mandalorian armor of Temuera Morrison's Jango Fett was a special thrill and challenge for Coveney team's early on in the production. Creating a costume based on the legendary Boba Fett "was fascinating and also frustrating," he recalls. "It's an image from 20 years ago, and it's such a stunning image. It was an honor to do it and it was nice to be able to change the color scheme to create a bit of a new look. But in other ways it was frustrating, because remaining faithful to that costume's look meant we couldn't take full advantage of a lot of our craft's advancements since the 1980s."  "Of course, Jango has a lot more action than Boba Fett ever did," smiles Coveney. "I don't know how many costumes they had for Empire and Jedi, but we ended up with six full costumes, of which three were hero costumes - close-up work costumes - and three were stunt costumes. We had to have someone on-set to keep an eye on it, not realizing how much of a beating it would get. He was just doing so much, as you'll see, that you just can't make a costume to survive that really."

New Dark Horse Comic Date to be released this December! "Star Wars: Jango Fett"
Dark Horse Comics has already started their Episode 2 Expanded universe with Jango Fett's own comic book reported to be released this December!  For more, check out our Comic - Novel UpdatesHere's some info from StarWars.com:
"There's no holiday for bounty hunters this year, as Dark Horse Comics unleashes two of Episode II's most fearsome predators in comic format. Star Wars: Jango Fett, by Ron Marz and Tom Fowler, is due out around Christmas 2001, while Star Wars: Zam Wesell, featuring the creative team of Ron Marz, Ted Naifeh and Dave Stewart, is scheduled for release in January 2002 . If you're attending Comic-Con International, which runs Thursday through Sunday, be sure to catch Dark Horse's panels regarding the future of Star Wars comics, scheduled for Friday at 12:30 in Room 16B. And be sure to visit the large Dark Horse booth on the floor of Comic-Con for some cool new Star Wars giveaways and signings by Star Wars comic artists on Friday."

StarWars.com has released the new title for Star Wars Episode 2!!  It is (drum roll please):
The new Official title for Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones
They also confirmed that the movie takes place 10 years after The Phantom menace.

There was a promo showing of Episode 2 footage in Mexcio shown to licensees around there.  Steve Sansweet was there, and said he wished he could have shown the whole movie, but this would have to make due.  The reporter refers to Jango Fett as Bobba, not sure why.  This is from DarkHorizons.com:

"The scene starts with Obi Wan exiting a building to a landing area similar to the queens coruscant landing area in EP I. It is at night raining very heavily and Slave 1 is on the dock! We hear a child of around 8 or 10 years old yell "Dad!" and run inside. Bobba Fett looks up and fires his gun at Obi Wan. After some running around Bobba uses his Backpack to lift himself up and around a tower near the ship and holds on to it like spiderman to a building crawling around. He then crawls facing down so he can get in position and shoots his backpack missile towards Obi Wan. Obi Wan flies off the platform and when he gets back up with a jedi jump, Slave 1 lifts off with Boba Fett and the kid in the cockpit...(I have this photo of the cockpit or a similar one from the brochure). The effects were not finished so the color was totally off, there was a time code running and the light saber effects were not done (the lightsaber was solid gray) the whole scene had a bluish cast all over (mood?) but my guess is that it was a real work in progress from the movie and not a scene from the cutting room floor."

Also, some more updates from the Comic Con with Steve Sansweet from theforce.net:
"The next segment I can remember involved the Fetts. The first clip was of Boba in Empire Strikes Back. The room just erupted with cheers. They then showed some footage that made me reconsider my earlier foolishness. Jango Fett in all his blue glory, walking around a green screen set with both guns drawn, blocking out a scene before shooting. Rick McCallum discussed how we are going to see the unexpected origins of Boba Fett, and meet a new Fett, Jango. When he said this, they showed the young Boba peeking around a white doorway. This segment was far too brief, but tantalizing enough to get you excited.   So the "Connections" video finishes to much applause, and I'm left with a better feeling then before I saw it, but I'm still not happy. Sansweet continues a bit to discuss what we just saw, how we won't believe how amazing the duel is between Obi-Wan and Jango Fett, how episode 2 is more adult in nature, more along the lines of Empire (which drew thunderous applause) and then comes to a subject everyone is waiting for. When can we expect a new trailer? He confirms that a trailer has not yet been finished, and that we will have to wait until at least November, BUT!!! perhaps if we can "use a little imagination", this could hold us over until then."
Some other highlights involving Jango Fett (Makes us wish we had been there!):

"-Temuera Morrison putting his Jango Fett helmet on. It seemed to me, that this was more costume test footage, as the helmet didn't seem to be fully painted.
- Jango Fett giving a thumbs-up to the camera. (Also at StarWars.com)
-Jango dancing with the umbrella. (Just like we've seen in the Select Photo, except from a close angle. "

Some questions that Steve was asked:
"Q: How old is Jango?
Steve: -Can't say. It's considered a spoiler.
Q: Do we find out that Boba Fett is Jaster Mereel?
Steve: - it1's just a story he made up to cover his identity "

Recently, StarWars.com posted this on Rick McCallum, who is the producer of the films:
"Perhaps the greatest cheer from the audience came when the subject turned to Boba Fett. Star Wars: Connections offers a new look of the bounty hunter set to appear in Episode II, promising many surprises next year in the forms of Boba and Jango Fett.   "I love Boba Fett," said Producer Rick McCallum. "We get to spend a lot of time with him in this movie. We get to understand that his identity is forged in some of the most powerful events that take place in the Star Wars saga."

Just released on StarWars.com, a little feature on San Diego Comic Con.  Steve Sansweet (Lucasfilm) was there to show off some new things from Episode 2.  Along with the events said in the update bellow this one, they showed off a new Boba Fett image (located to the left, click to enlarge).

Click here to see the June StarWars.com select that features Jango Fett's helmet. This is somewhat old news (since our delay), but StarWars.com has released a new select that shows what appears to be Jango Fett's helmet on a costume table.  We say 'it appears to be' because the image has been edited in Adobe Photoshop using some filters, and is hard to make out.  To see the full select, click on the thumbnail to the left or visit the select gallery!  Discuss this in our forum!

Also, from theforce.net:

"Steve Sansweet's "Star Wars - Connections" presentation just wrapped up at the San Diego Comic Con and Jeff Yankey called in with details:
- They reconfirmed Jango Fett and that he is played by Temuera Morrison. They also confirmed that Daniel Logan is Boba Fett. And remember that Episode II Select image showing Jango Fett dancing in front of the green screen with an umbrella? They showed video footage of that little dance number, too. They also showed a lot of great shots of Morrison in costume as Jango Fett. When asked how old Jango Fett was, Sansweet mentioned he couldn't say and that it was a spoiler. More about Jango Fett will be revealed in the next two months."

Theforce.net reports with some new dialog from the movie.  It features Boba Fett and Obi-Wan meeting for the first time on Kamino.  Taun We asks where Boba Fett's father (Jango Fett) is.
"As most spoiler-hungry fans know already, Jango and Obi-Wan have a spectacular fight on a Kamino landing platform during a fierce storm. The two first met in a slightly less violent fashion. Obi-Wan is on a tour of the cloning facilities with Taun We. After visiting a classroom full of identical boys, they come to an apartment. The door slides open, and reveals a ten-year old boy looking at them. A boy identical to those in the classroom. His name is Boba Fett.  Taun We inquires about the whereabouts of his father, and Boba confirms that he's home. He allows them entry, and the three venture deeper into the apartment. A rough looking man comes to meet them, a man Taun We calls Jango. Taun We then goes on to introduce Obi-Wan to him, and the two men's eyes meet. Just a simple man trying to make his way in the universe. "
Similarly, here's another bit of DIALOG from the movie script about the time of the scene mentioned above.  It features Taun We, Obi-Wan, and a young Boba Fett.
"As they wait, OBI-WAN notes the door lock mechanism. Then the door opens, and ten-year-old boy, BOBA FETT, looks at them. He is identical to the boys in the classroom.
TAUN WE : Boba, is your father here?
There is a brief pause, then BOBA FETT nods.
TAUN WE (continuing) : May we see him?
BOBA FETT : Sure.
Another brief pause, then BOBA FETT steps aside, and TAUN WE and OBI-WAN go through."

FAN ART OF THE CONCEPT ART WITH SOME SCENE DESCRIPTIONS.  HUH?!

Again, from TheForce.net they brought us a update on some insider info about the infamous battle between Obi-Wan and Jango Fett on the landing platform on Kamino.  The links in the document point to fan art and renderings.
"There is a landing platform on Kamino that is quite interesting. Jango Fett's ship Slave I is parked there, and it is the scene for an amazing battle between OBI-WAN and the seasoned warrior.  The platform itself is actually circular, with spires protruding all around it in different shapes and sizes. Most all of the buildings are smooth and very Alderaan looking actually, many with tall spires peeking into the rumbling skyscape. These large structures are grouped together, and in the distance you can see other groupings. A staircase extends off of one side of the landing platform, and leads to a tower and another structure. Many of these "Cloud City" like cities are on long spires out of the water.  For some fan art, you can check out a new picture in the Virtual Edition by Guy Lagacé and another one here pretty close to what we believe is the look of the actual location. "

LANDO AND BOBA FETT HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON?

I noticed, as did many of the other Star Wars sites, that under the Behind the Scenes of Lando Calrissian's databank entry on StarWars.com he is listed as:
"Perhaps the strangest version of Lando had him be the leader of a clan of clones left over from the Clone Wars. His world consisted entirely of clones scattered across seven hundred different countries, each with a distinct clan. As the story evolved, all the other clones were dropped, but Lando was still the product of cloning, part of the Ashandi family who reproduced through such means."
Now, if you have been following the latest on Boba Fett, you'll know that Boba Fett is going to be just like that, a cloned 'offspring.'  Interesting huh?  As we have been finding out more and more lately, lots of ideas that were ditched in the original trilogy's productions are now being used in the prequels.  Discuss this in our forum!

TheForce.net has posted some images of what they believe to be Shocktroopers, or early stormtroopers.  The armor is a stormtroopers, but the helmet is a Stormtrooper/Boba Fett helmet mix.  You can find the scans here at TheForce.net.  Discuss this in our forum!

TheForce.net has posted some Episode 2 info regarding Jango Fett, Boba Fett, and Clones:
"Keep in mind there thousands, maybe millions of them here. Everything looks like a production line, in a giant laboratory. The Kaminoans run this place and there is one special gift that they gave Jango Fett. A young man named Boba Fett. Why is he so important? There is good reason Boba Fett plays such a critical role here. You see, he is the prototype clone of Jango. In a way you could say he has thousands of brothers. He's the first one to go through the process and there's some key differences between him and a normal clone. The 10-year old does not have any accelerated growth processes built into him, unlike the others. His DNA was not manipulated in any way, another key difference. Yes, he was given by the Kaminoans to Jango as a gift, that much is true, and as speculated he will witness the death of his father as well.  Boba Fett is full of hatred because after seeing his father decapitated by Mace Windu in the arena, he even takes the worn and beaten helmet as a permanent token of his father's death. It would be impossible for a person to have more hatred for the Jedi than he does. Talk about deep resentment. And one final interesting note is that all the clones look like one person. With their masks on they basically look like stormtroopers, only their helmets look like a cross between Fett's helmet and the Stormtrooper helmet. And as for a final location, don't forget about the Clone trooper inspection area, where they're all lined up like a battalion by the jillion outside."
Interesting.  So, Boba Fett may be a unaltered clone.  No wonder he wanted to kill Skywalker so bad in ROTJ, he was so infixed on Luke that he failed to realize that Han was a simi-threat.  Discuss this in our forum!
Moving on, here's another bit of info:

"In Episode II, we see allot of how the clones are made... which is sure to be on the wish list of many fans for the next movie. When OBI-WAN goes to the cloning facilities they show him everything, almost like a field trip of how they make clones. Actually, not quite everything, but most of it. And of course, we learn about Boba Fett and how/why he was made.
So is there something different about Boba Fett? Is there a specific reason Jango wants the young clone? It most certainly appears that way."

Is it possible Jango Fett custom ordered Boba Fett?  Discuss this in our forum!
This was sent to me from a source that wants to be called Dooku Fett.  It contains some of the dialogue used in the movie, I just found it was also posted on TheForce.net:

Dooku: Why are you here?
Obi Wan: I am searching for Jango Fett.
Dooku: He is not here.
Obi Wan: I assure you he is.

So, Obi-Wan is searching for Jango Fett, and gets captured.  This scene appears to be when Obi-Wan travels to Geonosis after Jango (he has been trailing him since their fight on Kamino on the landing platform in the rain.  Discuss this in our forum!
FINALLY, I have word that Episode 2 has finished principal filming, but the extra shots and scenes that will be taken later have not happened.

TheForce.net has posted some Episode 2 info regarding Jango Fett and Clones:
"Let's start out with some facts that a spy recently sent us, then we'll venture into speculation. Our informant tells us we'll see the "Confederacy of Independent Systems" in Episode II along with secessionists and separatists. We'll also see a "military creation act", a law passed by the Senate that allows a new military force to be created. That's what we know for sure. Now for the speculation on our part. It looks like Lucas is delving into the American Civil War for inspiration for Episode II. Apparently several systems break away from the Republic to form the Confederacy. Count Dooku, the "charismatic separatist", leads them under the secret guidance of Darth Sidious. By playing both sides and creating a threat to the Republic, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine would have the support of the Senate to create a clone army through the "military creation act" and thus create his new army that will eventually become the Empire. Sneaky, eh? Would that make the Confederacy technically the good guys? The Rebels? And would the table seen in this Episode II Select be the meeting place for the Confederacy? We don't know, but that's our speculation. "
"Dark Horizons had a reader check in with a report on Jay Laga'aia. They met at a festival and chatted about Episode II: 'I've just finished playing at a Polynesian festival today in Auckland ,where Jay Lag'aia was performing, we were both awaiting for our respective spots when I asked "What's the latest on episode 2?". He looked at me dumbfounded and then his face lit up. He regaled us with tales of actually touching R2-D2 and using a remote control to move one of robots doubles of the famous automaton. He also said that the most thrilling experience he had was watching a scene with Anakin and Obi-wan where Obi says, "May the force be with you". It seems he may do the Matrix 2, but that would depend as he's shooting some more scenes for Episode 2 in England shortly.  I asked about a rumor I heard - that storm troopers were to be cloned from the combined gene samples of his character and that of Morrison's. Obviously he couldn't comment on anything due to confidentiality agreements, but he didn't deny it either so take that how you will.'"
Sounds interesting.  I can only imagine an army of Boba Fetts..... Discuss this in our forum!
Also, TheForce.net posted a list of Episode 2 characters that were supposedly the master list of E2 figures from Hasbro.  But it was later confirmed it was NOT A TRUE list.  I've posted it bellow anyway because it's interesting to see what they thought the character line would be.  Following that is a story about the figures:

"Super Battledroid, Droid (Arena), Boba Fett (Kamino), Taun We, Tusken Raider (Female), Obi-Wan (Coruscant), Padme (Arena), Padme (White), Shaak-Ti (Sneak Preview), Jar Jar (Senator), Captain Typho (Pilot), Anakin (Freighter), Geonosian Warrior, C3PO Tatooine, Jango Fett (Kamino), Kit Fisto, Wat Tamber, Zam Wessell, Jango Fett, Droid, Super Trooper, Dexter Jettster, Battle Droid (Blue), Plo Koon (New)"
"The Original Plan for Boba Fett - Sharad Hett has been thinking quite a bit about that list of Episode II figures we reported late last night, and remembered something interesting in relation to a Classic Moment on the Official Site some time ago: I was milling through all the old "Classic Moments" on the official site, that I hadn't read before. I came across this post about Boba Fett which may hold true for Jango's role. Who knows. Originally, Boba Fett was part of a force we called Super Troopers, and they were these really high-tech fighting units, and they all looked alike. That eventually evolved into a single bounty hunter. And now it appears that they are making an action figure of a Super Trooper. Make of that what you will."

Either way, can't wait to see Episode 2's figure line-up!  Going to have some great Boba Fett and Jango Fett figures!

From SirStevesGuide.com, they got a buzz from someone who says they saw some Episode 2 paintings.
"A brilliant painting titled "Kyber Dart". It was of two ships involved in an asteroid field. I assume that this is the Kyber Dart. One of the ships looked like Slave 1 but a different color and the other was a small slinky looking craft which looked about the right size for a fighter."

Bounty Hunter's Headpiece -
"In yesterday's update I said I knew nothing of that headpiece worn by Temuera Morrison's character. I think this email sums it up well:
Whether or not you've already had tons of e-mails already on this subject I don't know, but the leather clothing and ear protectors worn by Temuera Morrison underneath his helmet are based on early Boba Fett designs by Joe Johnson, which can be viewed in the ART OF THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK book. The headwear is simply a continuation of his blue undergarment, and serves to protect Temeura Morrision's character's head against the hard edges of the helmet."

Catching up on some older updates from TheForce.net, here are a few things they posted about Jango Fett, clones, stormtroopers and more!
NEW ON LOCATION AT STARWARS.COM

"Fiendish Cow was the first to tell us that the Official Site had posted a new On Location video. This one features Nash Edgerton, Ewan McGregor's stunt double. In it, we see him between takes of the rain battle between Obi-Wan and Jango. In fact, right at the beginning, you can see a clip of it, showing Obi-Wan sliding down a slope.."
WHY STORMTROOPERS ARE SUCH BAD SHOTS
"Chris has a great idea we think would tie the prequels with the classic trilogy nicely. Here's some of his thoughts with ours tossed in for good measure. We don't think this is the case and just speculation, but still some fun stuff to think about before you sneak out of the office early today. "I have a different take on Boba Fett's slow rate of aging (original article here yesterday). Perhaps the slower a clone ages, the more sophisticated his mental capacities develop. In other words, if you rush a clone through the aging process, he won't be as smart as a slowly-aged one." This would explain why Boba Fett becomes a total bad dude while most stormtroopers (judging from the classic films) can't shoot worth a dime. Perhaps this is understood in Episode 2, but Palpatine is more interested in quantity rather than quality and rushes them through. However, Jango would be interested in a quality clone and was also fortunate to get the young boy, so he'd prefer the slowly-aged one instead."
BOBA FETT IN EPISODE 2
"TheForce.Net had recently posted "What the story is so far" on Episode 2. After that, lots of people e-mailed in saying yes, that's right, or no, that's wrong. This individual e-mailed in and talked a bit about Fett:
'They said that the plot you describe is relatively pretty close to the script, but the end is completely different (i.e. that bit involving the Lightsaber battle with Obi Wan and Anakin), Boba Fett is in it a lot more, and there is lots of death. It was also said that this film is the ESB of the prequels in terms of darkness.'"
JANGO FETT, BOBA FETT, AND CLONES EXPLAINED
TheForce.net also got an e-mail from an individual who talked about art drawings he/she had seen. Here is the post :
"The other planet is Kamino. This is where the clones are manufactured. This is also where Jango and Boba "live" (maybe temporarily). This planet looks like it's all water, and it rains all the time. All the "cities" are built on top of the water, but they're supported by columns that go underneath the water. They kinda look like those oil platforms out at sea, but much more impressive. The cities look like that alderaan capital city from ralph mcquarrie's "illustrated star wars book", only metallic. The main city is called Water City. There is artwork of a clone laboratory (thousands of rows of giant test tubes), a clone hatchery (kinda similar -- but the clones fully formed), clone barracks, a clone commissary where they eat, and a clone classroom. Note that there are thousands (maybe billions) of them here. Everything looks like a production line, in a giant laboratory. The Kaminoans run this place. They're really tall, and they have a fin that runs from their head to their back. Obi-Wan is walking with the Prime Minister in many of these pictures looking at the cloning process. An interesting note is that all the clones look like Temuera Morrison. With their masks on they basically look like stormtroopers, only their helmets look like a cross between Fett's helmet and the Stormtrooper helmet. Finally there is a Stormtrooper inspection area, where they're all lined up like a battalion outside."

Lots of Boba Fett / Jango Fett news!! Young Boba Fett select image? Jango Fett and Obi-Wan Duel in space? An Ambu Fett in Episode 2? Possible Jango Fett line from Episode 2? This update is packed with spoilers so beware!!
Could this be the face of young Boba Fett? Yes! Could this be the ship called Slave 1? Yes! Click to enlarge the select image!  Let's start with the first more important thing, StarWars.com has posted they're latest Episode 2 Select image. In the image (shown bellow) you can see a small boy looking out what appears to be some kind of window. There is water on the window which looks like rain. Put all of that together and what do you get? It appears to be young Boba Fett looking out of the cockpit of Slave 1 watching his father, Jango Fett, battling Obi-Wan Kenobi in the rain. The scene might be just before he fires Slave 1's blasters and Obi-Wan. You may recognize this scene from the storyboards which made it online a while ago, yes, it may be from the battle!! So we may be in fact looking at Boba Fett!!  to see the full sized select, click on the thumbnail to the left or visit the select gallery! Discuss your thoughts about the select in our forum!

Next, Temuera Morrison, who is reportedly portraying Jango Fett in Episode 2, just had two interview articles come out in magazines that Temuera Morrison (Jango Fett) in costume on the set. Click to enlarge. describe his role in Episode 2. The next two pieces of information have come from the good 'ol folks over at TheForce.net:
" Rob was the first to point out this article at SMH.com.au. In it, Temuera Morrison again confirms his role in Episode II. He did this in an article yesterday, but in this he also reveals something else: 'I play a bounty hunter,' he grins. 'Remember in Return of the Jedi there was a guy called Boba Fett? Well, in this film Boba Fett is about 12 years old and I play his father. With a clone army.' So Boba definitely is 12 in Episode II. Seems Daniel Logan will probably be portraying the young Fett, as other reports have suggested. Now lets hope the other actors can do likewise. "
"King J thought you might like to know about this excerpt from an article on Temuera from the Green Guide in Melbourne. Spoiler warning, some of this is harmless, but there is another new scene tidbit no one's heard of before included! Beware:After Ihaka, he [Tem] got to do something that he says will make his nine-year-old son's year - a part in the next Star Wars film. 'I've been over to Fox to do some costume stuff and I'm standing there with all this gear on and all I can think of is "Wait till my son sees this!".' As Boba Fett senior, Morrison says he's got a few scenes with 'Obi Kenobi' and 'a bit of a space chase through the asteroids'. He also laughs that he has the immortal line: 'I'm just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.'"
So, one of the first lines from Episode 2 released may be from Jango Fett? And what a line it is. But it sounds honest enough. That space battle will be neat too. With all of these battles with Jango Fett, I bet Obi-Wan is getting quite a workout!!  Discuss your thoughts about Temuera in our forum!

Finally, a bit of the rumored Ambu Fett again from Theforce.net -
"Remember the name of a New Zealander actor Tihoi Taylor from Hamilton? We first posted back in July here after receiving a tip from the Taupo Times newspaper. Well, today insider Baby Hum reveals exclusively to TFN exactly who and what this actor is doing in Episode II. Again a warning - major spoilers present!! You've spoke of Ambu Fett before, and I've got a tidbit for you as well. Bodie 'Tihoi' Taylor plays that character in Episode II. In fact, in the script and on set he was also referenced as the Clone Captain, which lends an interesting twist to the Fett name, Clones and of course, a captain certainly implies that there must also be an army.  Holy cow, here's something we've been waiting for for years! And coincidentally, his name Tihoi sounds like a Maori name and that other report does allude to the actor being of Maori origin - so chances are he'll have the same sort of skin color and general look as Temuera Morrison and Daniel Logan. So let's get this straight, we've got: Jango Fett, which is rumored to be the source for the clones. Boba Fett, his 'son,' and Ambu Fett, a clone captain in the military. Now, new information today also suggests that Ambu Fett may not be an evil character in the film. Perhaps the Senate has commissioned a small group of clones to be made in a test run, and they are used in the protection of the Queen? Or the clones are part of the prototypes of an army they are rushing to assemble? Just tossing that in there to make your head spin. Is it working? Amazing details emerging, more as we get it!"

There have been rumors of next summer a special Hasbro figure coming out. This figure will only be obtainable by collecting and sending the JEDI POINTS on the back of the figures. They also have to have dated receipts of when you purchased your figures, but if you collect up enough, you can send away for a Jango Fett figure!! Again, this is only a rumor, and if it is true it will not be till next summer. So start saving your receipts and points today just in case!!
Temuera Morrison (Jango Fett) on set in costume! Click to enlarge. Also, TheForce.net has an interesting tidbit on where Stormtroopers came from which they got from a magazine scan :
"This scan [the thumbnail to the right, click on it to enlarge] of the Australian magazine Who Weekly suggests that the character played by Temuera Morrison is the original source for stormtroopers. While this is correct, I wanted to give you a bit of further information as well. Every Stormtrooper looks like Jango Fett. What that means I won't say, and since it can be taken several ways I'll just leave you wondering."
Interesting, Stormtroopers looking like Jango Fett. I can only imagine an army of Jango Fetts', makes me wonder where the Stormtrooper idea went downhill, are they just not getting benefits or something?

What do you think the reason to the downfall of the stormtrooper was, say in our forum!

It seems that Scott McLean will be Jango Fett's Stunt Double in Episode 2, this from TheForce.net :
"We know in Episode II that we're going to be seeing variations of Boba Fett's Mandalorian armor. One cool hint of what they might look like comes from old pre-production photos from The Empire Strikes Back. The new book Aurra Sing: Dawn of the Bounty Hunters by Ryder Windham and Josh Ling has a couple of shots of the very first Boba Fett armor made. It was modeled after the Ralph McQuarrie paintings seen below and is totally white. Pretty cool, eh? This Aurra Sing book is the first place these images have been printed. It also mentions how the Mandalorians were originally supposed to be super stormtroopers, possibly explaining the white armor."
Was Jango Fett created from a Empire Strikes Back Boba Fett costume concept?  The first three images bellow are from the new Aurra Sing/Bounty Hunter Masterpiece figure and  book. The first shows pre-production designs of Boba Fett's armor for Empire Strikes Back. The Second shows the White armor prototype costume with smoking jetpack! The third image shows Lucas himself supervising and fixing a piece of the costume. Could this be where Jango Fett was dreamed up?  Discuss this in our forum!

Star Wars Episode 2 Storyboards have made it online!  Alright, now if you have been watching the latest Episode 2 spoilers and the latest info, you may know about the new Episode 2 STORYBOARDS that have made it online. Yes, storyboards from Episode 2, about 20 minutes worth I'm guessing. Yes, these do show MAJOR Boba Fett and Jango Fett action and scenes. But, soon after the sites posted these story boards they received a letter from Lucasarts saying cease and desist. The sites now, well most of them, have taken off the boards because of the legal issues Lucas can throw at them. I respect Lucasfilm's property, so I will not be posting the story boards, nor will I be linking to any. Those sites post them at their own risk . Also, I will not e-mail the boards to you, so do not ask. I will though, give you a very brief summary on the two scenes in the storyboards:
  "
The first scene is in the rain on a landing platform. Jango Fett and YOUNG Boba Fett are there next to Slave 1. Jango turns to see Obi-Wan charging to the attack. Jango battles Obi-Wan while Boba Fett looks out of Slave 1. It's a great battle, matrix style with Jango using every weapon he has, including two blasters at once! He gets a lot of use of of his jetpack also. Obi-Wan take hits, Jango takes hits, and even Little Boba Fett tries to shoot Obi-Wan with Slave 1's lasers, but he misses. The battle goes on, but the outcome comes out with Jango escaping with Boba in Slave 1 while Obi-Wan watches them go. This scene will take place on the platform that two of the StarWars.com Episode 2 selects have posted. First the one of Obi-Wan in pain on the landing platform, and the select I have posted bellow of Jango dancing in the rain on the same platform.  The second scene is a big battle between Jedi and droids. I mean big. Hundreds of Battle Droids, Destroyer Droids (Droidekas), and Super Battle Droids. But, there are many Jedi also, all with lightsabers. Well, Jango Fett is there, and Mace Windu shows up (Windu is Samuel L. Jackson). Well, Jango and Windu have a big face off. Again, Jango throws everything at Mace, and this time we get to see him use his flamethrower! Eventually Mace Windu gets the upper hand and ends up slicing Jango into shish ca bobs.  Jango's helmet goes bouncing on the ground as a mortified young Boba Fett watches his father's death."
There words can describe those scenes: "MATRIX meets STAR WARS."

This is it!  What we have all been waiting for, confirmation of Jango Fett!  That's right, this is one of StarWars.com's official selects from Episode 2.  It appears to be Jango Fett 'dancing in the rain' between takes.  Don't be fooled, this is official gold here.  I can only wait to see him in action!  He is standing on a landing platform, which is rumored to be a big fight scene between him and a Jedi.  Slave 1 will probably be not too far from him, seeing as how it's a landing pad!  Interesting to see a green screen when most of the movie uses a blue screen.

TheForce.net posted a new bit on all those rumors of the different Fetts (Ambu, Jango, and young Boba Fett) Here is the article:
"Boba Fett in Books & Comics & Episode II - As many of you know, the books and comics have filled in a little bit of history about Boba Fett. Or have they? The following summary comes from Bob Vitas' Completely Unofficial Star Wars Encyclopedia:  Boba Fett was known at one time as the Journeyman Protector Jaster Merell. There are also rumors that Fett was an extremely dedicated Imperial Stormtrooper who, for reasons known only to him, attacked and killed his superior officer. These rumors have never been substantiated. What is known is that Jaster Merell killed a corrupt Protector but was imprisoned for the murder anyway. He was exiled from the planet Concord Down, and found employment as a bounty hunter, learning the skills that would make him a formidable adversary in the future. In his travels, Boba Fett acquired a full suit of Mandalorian Shock Trooper armor. The unique weapons systems of the armor suited a number of purposes, including enhancement of his arsenal as well as increasing the mystique behind his reputation. He also acquired an old Kuat Systems Engineering Firespray-class ship, which he named Slave I and had heavily modified at Kuat Drive Yards. Many of the modifications to Slave I were developed by Kuat of Kuat himself, and helped further the design of other starships. Fett employed the best micro surgeons in the galaxy to remove as many of the pain-sensing nerves from his body. He also had many of his body’s pleasure sensors eliminated as well. As his proficiency as a bounty hunter grew, so did his reputation.  Well, as you can guess from the Episode II rumors coming out about this character, you can forget all of this. George Lucas is wiping the slate clean on Fett and giving the character a whole new history. It's now up to the authors to make this history fit in with what's going to be revealed in the films. Based on recent discussions about this on StarWars.Com, Jaster Merell will probably be written off as a Boba Fett impersonator - not the real deal. This has happened before in the comics where Fett battled a young bounty hunter trying to take over the Boba Fett persona. But all of this remains to be seen. And if this is the case with Boba Fett, you can bet money that other things will have to be rethought, too."
We can sure throw out those old theories.  As seen in the latest update (August 6th, 2001), officials have confirmed that the Jaster Merell theory is nothing more than a cover-up.

StarWarsFan.org has just released new information on Boba Fett in Episode 2. It discusses the rumors about Jango Fett, Ambu Fett, and Boba Fett.
"A source has given us the go-ahead to post some morsels concerning everyone's favorite Mandalorian bounty hunter. While the scoop doesn't completely explain everything in detail, it does give hints about who/what Boba Fett is in EP2 and how events in this film affects his character later on in the saga.  As is now commonly known among Prequel gossip circles, it's become apparent that Boba Fett is not a warrior in this film, but is actually a young boy. His father, Jango Fett, will be donning semi-familiar armor and committing the naughty deeds. Before arms across fandom are thrown up in disgust or defiance, it's worth pointing out that, while we will have to endure another child in a "key" role, it may not quite be as "bad" as it sounds. Read on... "Boba Fett and Jango do spend a good bit of time together onscreen. It was said that Boba Fett was to have a "prominent" role in the film. From a fan's standpoint, that might be true but it is not entirely accurate. People expecting to see lots of the Fetts in this film will be disappointed. The picture is simply not about them. However, they do drive an interesting subplot and we should see more Jango Fett in action in outcome than we did with Darth Maul in Phantom... Yes, Boba is a child in the picture. But it's not much what you think. Unlike Anakin, who was 8 or 9 in the last film, Boba Fett is 12 or 13 here and will come across much more mature. Lucas has done something quite interesting with this character, actually. He's not evil at all and like most kids he is mostly innocent. However, when certain events happen in this film (and into SW3) it becomes quite clear why Boba grows up with the apparent quiet rage he has in the classic films. While Lucas wants Anakin to come across as a sweet, benevolent cherub in SW1 so that his Fall is shocking and painful. The Boba Fett character is a bit more quiet and distant. Again, he's not a bad kid. But you can tell he's withdrawn and that he'll end up on the "dark" side of things... It's important to remember that these roles (both Boba and Jango Fett, the "Daddy" who will wear Armour and be in combat in the film) are complete secondary characters and, aside from an interesting subplot and interaction with main characters, they are not quite crucial to the story. Again, don't get your hopes up for all kinds of cool Fett stuff in the film. They'll be there, and it will be cool but it might not be what some fans are expecting."

Lucasfilm has just recently gone out and purchased a lot of .com, .net, and .org domain names for Episode 2 character names and vehicle names. Two of the domain names are Fett related. The following two were found by TheForce.net and they could mean that these characters are Mandalorians. From what they speculated, they think that "Fett" is a title, like ____ Fett, the first name would go before Fett. This could be if the Mandalorians have titles like general, or captain, Fett could be a rank. Here are the domain names :
"AMBUFETT.COM - First Boba, then Jango, now Ambu? Fett must be some type of title, this could again be a relation or another officer in the military.
JANGOFETT.ORG - The name Jango Fett has been circulating on the web for quite a while now, but this seems to be the first 'official' indication that there is another Fett besides Boba in Episode II!"

Temuera Morrison (Jango Fett) in costume on the set. Click to enlarge.  To follow up on that news bellow, I have just received a spy-photo in my mail that is the the real thing of Temuera Morrison (Jango Fett) in what appears to be Mandalorian armor, this is much better than the photo bellow because you can see all of the armor minus the helmet. There are some new things on him compared to Boba Fett's costume.  First, the gun in the holster appears to be new.  Also, the shades of color make me suspect that the armor will be all silver instead of the usual Green we've come to recognize from Boba Fett.  Also, the jetpack appears to be a different shape, closer and more conformed to his back.  One thing I'm sure well would have liked to have.  Click on the thumbnail to the left to enlarge it. Temuera Morrison going to work, that is, on the set of Star Wars Episode 2 as Jango Fett.See the simularities between Jango Fett and Boba Fett's costume? I received an e-mail from a surfer telling me about these photos found on TheForce.net that had to do with Boba Fett. So, I went over there, and I was astonished to find Temuera Morrison spy pictures.  It has been rumored and confirmed by spies about a character called Ja
ngo Fett.  He is possibly Boba Fett's father.  Boba Fett is still rumored to be 12 years old.   Now you can see the bottom portion of the costume really well, and there are some notable Boba Fett similarities. To the left are both images, click on their thumbnails to enlarge them.  The top most image is the full spy photo. The bottom image is a comparison shot of Boba Fett's orange knee-pads and Jango Fett's silver knee-pads.  Discuss these new images in our forum!

New Star Wars Insider news: I just picked up the latest Star Wars Insider. Continuing with their Episode 2 interviews, they interviewed Production Designer Gavin Bocquet. The article was brief, but you'll get some new info on it:
"Star Wars Insider: One of those personal spaces we talked about last time was Boba Fett's 'Apartment.'  How is work coming along on that?
Gavin Bocguet: That's one of the sets we are not building a lot of, because it is mostly CG.  But because there is a scene with a couple of human characters in the environment, it was decided to build a part of it.  That set is nearly finished."

Has Boba Fett been found? There has been speculation about Temuera Morrison having to do something with Boba Fett. Well, Yesterday, StarWars.com posted another Episode 2 update. They are slowly profiling characters in the movie which they call "local talent." As I was reading along, Temuera Morrison was profiled. I was a bit amazed when I saw this : "He is excited to join the cast of Episode II as a bounty hunter." Is this Boba Fett? Has he been found? Or is there a new bounty hunter to join the ranks? (UPDATE - We now know that he is Jango Fett, Boba Fett's father.)
"Maori actor Temuera Morrison’s award winning performance in the film Once Were Warriors opened doors to several Hollywood roles. He is excited to join the cast of Episode II as a bounty hunter. "I have admired Temuera since first seeing him in Once Were Warriors," said Gurland. "When George was creating this role I spoke to him about Tem and he also thought Temuera would be a wonderful addition to the cast." Over the years, Morrison has appeared in such films as Barb Wire, The Island of Dr. Moreau, Speed 2, Six Days Seven Nights and Hangman’s Daughter."

Starwarsfan.org posted a bit from a conversation they had with a spy:
"And I finally got a glimpse of what Fett will probably look like. Fans are going to be surprised."
Well, this bit of news is surprising. What will he look like? There are a million things that can be changed on his costume. Update - Of course, now that we know and have seen the existence of Jango Fett, we know that the costume has changed a lot.
Also in the news, StarWars.com is having another poll involving Fett. It says "Which returning character do you think will have the biggest impact on Episode II?" The choices are Beru, Boba Fett, Jar Jar, or Owen Lars. When I took the poll, the totals were 2% for Beru, 63% for Boba Fett, 8% for Jar Jar, and 27% for Owen Lars.

MSN.com posted an article on the start of Episode 2 filming. In it they noted a bit on Fett, nothing new, but worth reading:
"And speaking of bounty hunters, Boba Fett fans will be happy to learn that the ruthless bounty hunter and Han Solo nemesis will be making an appearance in Episode II. How much of an appearance is debatable, though, since Lucas is mum on the storyline as usual."
Also, the end result of the StarWars.com poll on which bounty hunter is better, Boba Fett or Aurra Sing, Fett w
on with a whopping 91% compared to Aurra's 9%. But we already knew Fett was the best.  Discuss these news in our forum!

StarWars.com posted a Episode 2ish poll asking which bounty hunter is better, Boba Fett or Aurra Sing. Of course we all know the easy answer: it is Fett. When I voted (6-25-00 at 2:00pm) Fett had 90% and Aurra had 10%.

Star Wars Insider has their new issue out, and it contains the usual Episode 2 update.  There was an interview this time about Boba Fett's ship and 'apartment':
"Star Wars Insider: One character that fans are very eager to see return in the next film is Boba Fett.  Have you designed Fett's new look yet?
Lucasfilm - Yes.  Most of the character designs and costumes have evolved from Doug's group, and the concept group, but we've already moving into looking at Boba Fett's ship and slight derivations of that, as well as Fett's apartment, and other environments that Fett exists in.  It's very interesting going back to a character that is such a favorite.  I think people will know a lot more about Boba Fett after this film."

Theforce.net posted a little bit on the new Star Wars Insider Magazine. They say it contains
"...mention of constructing Boba Fett's 'apartment' as well as having seen production sketches for Fett's ship and costume, which apparently will be somewhat different than we've seen before."
I'll go and get the Insider, and post what they say on here. Check back for updates.  (UPDATE - Article is above!)

We got this in our mail,  this part two of the interview with George Lucas from SuperShadow.com. Head on over there for the rest of the interview:
"Suttle: Was Boba Fett originally in the prequels when you wrote the back-story in the 1970's? George Lucas: No.
Suttle: Why not?
George Lucas: He wasn't created until we started working on the Empire Strikes Back.
Suttle: So why did you add him to the Episode 2 storyline?
George Lucas: He's one of the most fascinating characters from the original films. I thought it would be interesting to show the fans what he was doing in the prequels.
Suttle: Why create a new origin for Boba Fett for Episode 2?
George Lucas: His identity is separate from what you have read about him in the novels and comics.
Suttle: Why is that?
George Lucas: It's not creatively satisfying to copy what has been printed about Fett's background. Fett's history is clouded in mystery. So no matter what you think you know about Fett, you really don't know anything about him. It's more interesting to come up with new ideas. He's my creation after all and the novels and comics aren’t my personal vision of Star Wars.
Suttle: You've described Fett's role in Episode 2 as "prominent." What does that mean?
George Lucas: He's a major character in the film with many scenes.
Suttle: Why doesn't Fett have much dialogue in the script?
George Lucas: Fett is all about action, not words.
Suttle: Are you going to have him wink at the camera when he takes his helmet off in the film?
George Lucas: No. (laughs)
Suttle: You’re going to give Fett a new look for the prequels. Why?
George Lucas: Episode 2 takes place twenty-two years prior to the original films so he’s obviously going to look different in his younger days."

StarWars.com has  posted a new "Ask the Jedi Council" question, this time featuring a Fett question.   A fan asked them about Boba Fett in Episode 2, the response was very interesting to read:
"Q: I'm excited that Boba Fett is going to be in Episode II. Are we going to get more details about how he was once Jaster Mereel and killed another Journeyman Protector on the planet Concord Dawn before becoming a bounty hunter? A (From: Steve Sansweet): Highly unlikely. My advice: Forget everything you knew, or thought you knew about the origins of Boba Fett. While none of us have seen a script of Episode II or have an idea of the direction in which George Lucas is taking the character, it's fairly safe to say that he won't be held to any of the back stories that have arisen over the years to try to explain the roots of this strong, mostly silent type. If there is any hint of Fett's beginnings, it will be all George. At the same time, what you've read to this point was probably misinformation anyhow. A bounty hunter like Boba Fett has much to gain by having numerous myths of his origin in circulation among potential employers and potential victims. That is why the Star Wars Encyclopedia states: "Many tales are told of his background and exploits, but there are very few verifiable facts, perhaps by design." Fett's short career as a law enforcement officer on Concord Dawn, and his perhaps-unjust downfall, was first told in Tales of the Bounty Hunters. Dark Empire II speculates that he was formerly a Stormtrooper who killed his commanding officer. The Marvel Comics series has Fett as an ex-Mandalorian commando, a veteran of the Clone Wars alongside Fenn Shysa and Tobbi Dala. Marvel even went as far as showing the lush jungles of the planet Mandalore. As many fans know, when it comes to Star Wars knowledge, there are degrees of "canon." The only true canon are the films themselves. For years, Lucas Books has stayed clear of characters, events, or the timeframe that George might want to deal with in the Star Wars prequels. While such things as the Clone Wars, the fall of the Jedi, and Palpatine's rise to power were on that list, Boba Fett wasn't considered to be of major concern. But like any great storyteller, George starts to develop a script and it sometimes takes on a life of its own, with characters coming to life and demanding a say. He has told us that Boba Fett will have a role in Episode II--just as Fett first appeared in the second film of the classic trilogy--so we may finally learn the bounty hunter's true genesis. As for whether Fett really survived his descent into the cavernous maw of the Sarlacc in Return of the Jedi...what do you think?"

Star Wars Insider has produced to new issues with Star Wars Episode 2 updates.  The top one is from the Dec./Jan. 2000 issue #47, and the bottom one is from the Mar./Apr. 2000 issue #48. Both are from the magazine's monthly interview with Star Wars producer Rick McCallum. As they interviewed Rick, they slipped in some Boba Fett questions regarding Episode 2:
December '99/January '00 issue:
"Star Wars Insider: George said in a previous interview that Darth Maul would not be coming back in Episode 2.
Rick: [Laughs] Of course not, he's dead!  But trust me, there will be other bad guys to take his place.
SWI: Including Boba Fett?
Rick: Absolutely!
SWI: Has the art department begun any initial sketch designs for Boba Fett yet?
Rick: No, not yet."
March/April issue:
"SWI:
Has the design work begun on Boba Fett for Episode 2 - and is his character still in the plan to appear in the movie?
Rick: They haven't begun sketching his new look yet, but that is really minor at this point.  Boba Fett is still in the movie.  But since we don't have a script, we're now focusing  on trying to find locations that look like planets we're visiting, and designing costumes."
